On April 17, 2008 I received a nice email from George Hyde's only grandson.
Tom Sommerville.  His mother was Beryl J. Hyde.
Beryl met and married George A. Sommerville
who immigrated from Scotland, in San Francisco, USA.
Tom informed me Cyril Hyde never married,
so this line of Hyde's ended with him in Feb 1989.
Madeline married, but had no children.
He thinks Beryl, Cyril, and Madeline
moved to the States in the 1920's.
Catharine died while they were still in Canada.

Thanks for the note and update Tom!
I already incorporated his info into the history page
Steve's wife below would be related to Tom.

Came across your website while searching for George Edward Audley Hyde as part of my family history research. Audley (as I believe he was known to his relatives) was the brother of my wife's great grandmother!   I have traced a lot of the Hyde family but could find no record of Audley following his marriage in the 1890's. Thanks to you I now know he left England for Canada.          Regards  Steve    Place of Residence = Sheffield, England

Comments:  Hello,  I am so happy to have found your website! Norman McLeod was the brother of my grandfather, Roderick MacLeod, and I have been looking for information about him. All of your info about Hyde is fascinating to me, and I thank you for it. I am hoping that possibly one (or more!) of Norman's descendants might see this message and contact me.     There is a brief narrative about Norman and Roderick's birth family in Bruce Co., Ontario: "from "Kith and Kin of Kinloss",  A history of the settlement of Kinloss Township. Compiled and published by the Kinloss Township Historians. from Vol. II, p.302: Thank you so much for the help your website has given me in my research.      Ann Erickson    California

Comments: i found this web site after growing interest in the town of Hyde which i lived across the river from on the south side of river before school age.i was born 1956 in grenfell.my older brother and 2 older sisters used to travel by foot up over the hills to go to country school house.our home was a prefab, put the pieces together yourself ordered from sears. the people whom bought our farm from us could not afford the house so it was moved to ? and i am now seaching for all the info i can find, espicially pictures, etc.there is still a building which was on the land before we lived here that still remains today. iam told the people that lived there had the water come right into that homestead house. i dont remember their names. my mom tells me there was no stopping the water from coming down the hill through there into our yard. my moms name is agnes violet ulmer(hodge-maiden name)my moms mom and dad was perkins, my name is beverley ulmer and my father is edward william ulmer.looking for any bit of info available.i found this location from memory as a kid i drove into the valley and remembered it and took a road and came to a bridge which looked familiar to me. i dont know why we ever left here it is the most beautiful place ive seen

Comments: My great grandfather Thomas Hudson West worked in a hotel somewhere in the Qu'Appelle Valley around the 1890's. Just wondering if this could be the town?

Comments: I grew up in the valley just a few miles west of Hyde, and have travelled the Hyde Hill a lot of times on trips to Neudorf and Grenfell.
Reinhold and Violet Steininger (Violet Parker) are my Grandparents, with Violet living in Grenfell and Reinhold rests in Regina Memorial Gardens. Ronald is my Father, and he would know a lot of the names you have mentioned and the areas of which you speak.
