Elswick Saskatchewan

Unincorporated area

5 miles straight west of Midale
(Red Rd in 1927 map below)
then 2 1/4 miles south to Elswick (Orange rd)

When the train was running here,
it was a whistle stop 12 miles East of Goodwater.

Just east of Highway 606
(orange rd in map below)
Looking on Google Earth
There is a large Oil Company station
located on almost the same spot.
Of course no sign of Elswick or the railroad.
the road into the Oil station
would be the old railroad right of way.

Latitude- 49° 22' North
Longitude- 103° 32' West

Located at NW Section 2, Township 5, Range 12, W2

Elevation 1876 ft.

Originally on the Canadian Northern Line
June 6, 1919 this became the Canadian National Railway

Railway Trestle bridge over the Souris River, near Elswick

Last Train thru Elswick, winter of 1946/47

Part of my Dad's 1927 map

Post Office in 1927
No Elevator known.
Souris River Shown here is now the Raferty Dam reservoir
and not the little stream as in 1927

School Shown on map-
 Waite School I think?
a mile and a 1/2 from Elswick
on NW Section 12, Township 5, Range 12, W2

per Macoun history book
"Elswick had a large barn, with high stone walls,
operating Feed Mill, a Section House,
and 2 spacious coal sheds."
